I am kicking myself for being so late to this band. I found out about them from their HIRS collaboration and went straight to this album, oh my godddd it is incredible. My turntable stays at 45RPM because I keep putting this one back on. Keep pushing yall.

This one also took me a while to get into. It strikes me as less HC than Untitled and less poppy than Ultrapop (stupid I know). Let's call this the No Wave record. Its musical (and amusical) density is matching the persistent sound in my head right now.

Unsure why Gillian Carter has been slept on in the screamo scene. While the modern screamo community is busy transitioning to deathcore clones and watered-down emoviolence, Gillian Carter has consistently been pushing the envelope with heavy, honest, cathartic, and genuine emotional hardcore punk. There is no twinkly emo bullshit here, just a dense, dark, and emotional response to the current world, that never loses its thread of melody.
